Before taking driving lessons you must: Be at least 17 years old (or 16 years old if you are in receipt of full rate motability allowance) Be able (with glasses or contact lenses if you require them) to read a car number plate 20.5m away. Be medically fit to drive Hold a provisional licence.

Driving Lessons

Apply for a Provisional Licence if you:

• Are a resident of Great Britain?
• Can meet the minimum age and eyesight requirements
• Are currently not prevented from driving for any reason
• Can pay by credit or debit card
• Have a valid UK passport or another form of identity
• Can provide addresses of where you have lived over the last three years
• Have a working printer connected to your computer (required for online application).

Please Note:
It will normally take around 2 to 3 weeks for your application to be processed.
The current cost is £45 for a provisional licence, with a free upgrade to a full licence when you pass.
